Hello readers! Today we are diving into the 10 bold Project 2025 initiatives that President Trump is looking to implement if he secures victory in the November 2024 election. These proposed policies could impact various aspects of the United States and its people.
Quick Recap of Week in Politics.
Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at his political rally in Pennsylvania. He then turned up at the opening of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Wisconsin wearing a bandage over his bloodied, injured right-ear. Trump announced J.D. Vance as his Vice President over Sen. Marco Rubio, disappointing many Cuban-American supporters in Trump’s adopted state of Florida.
In the meantime, President Biden assumed leadership and made several public appearances. During an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, he vehemently defended his debate performance. After his interview, Biden delivered a powerful and lively political speech in the swing state of Detroit, Michigan. Rally attendees responded positively to his strong criticism of Trump. To secure his nomination, Biden must maintain his impressive performance in Detroit, as shown by the recent positive rally event that highlighted his campaign.
Stop panicking and start campaigning.
At the BET Awards Show, acclaimed actress Taraji P. Henson shouted and urged viewers in attendance and a televised audience to research and read for yourselves about “Project 2025.” News media outlets have widely reported online searches for “Project 2025” spiked that same night after the actress called to action for the audience to investigate project 2025 for themselves.
Let us look at each of these Project 2025 initiatives:
1. Strengthening Border Security Measures
A major focus of President Trump’s agenda is strengthening border security measures. This involves constructing a border wall along the U.S. Mexico border and increasing border patrol agents. The goal is to address immigration and bolster national security.
Two things stand out to me about his border security agenda: 1) The sight of ICE agents rolling through minority communities rounding up suspected immigrants (dissidents) is not modern America democracy (it happened in the past). 2) Interment camps run by privatized contract companies hiring militia and former expelled law enforcement individuals. These camps, once built, may very well be used to disappear people like the “Russian gulag.”
There was a bipartisan deal to strengthen border security and address root causes of immigration. However, Trump instructed Congress Republicans to not provide Biden “a win.” So, yes, this aspect, like many other Project 2025 initiatives, is disingenuous and self-serving.
Critics, however, raise concerns about drawbacks such as strained diplomatic ties, higher expenses and human rights issues. The actual implementation of these policies and their lasting impact on immigration and national security remain uncertain.
2. Tax Breaks for High-Income Individuals
President Trump’s strategy includes providing tax breaks for individuals, to boost economic growth and encouraging investment. Supporters argue that reducing taxes for individuals and businesses can lead to job opportunities and greater economic activity.
Critics on the side contend that these tax reductions could worsen income inequality and lead to lower government revenue, potentially resulting in cuts to social programs and services.
Also, this “top-down” economic theory did not work in his first term administration and certainly will not work again for a struggling poor and middle class. The effects of these tax cuts on the economy and income distribution are still a subject of debate.
However, you can choose to believe Donald Trump, a flawed and unsuccessful business person, or you can conduct your own research to discover what leading economists have to say about Trump’s economic agenda. It is common to hear people expressing a belief that they were better off during the Trump era, even though the facts and the significant loss of American lives because of Covid-19 suggest otherwise. He is unquestionably skilled at putting on a show, constructing his reputation on flimsy foundations.
3. Repeal of the Affordable Care Act
Moving on to another issue on President Trump’s agenda. The repeal of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. This initiative aims to replace the healthcare system with a new plan that focuses on free market principles and offering consumers more choices.
Supporters argue that excluding Obamacare would decrease government involvement in healthcare and empower individuals to make their healthcare decisions. This is the type of watery-eye foolery that sounds good to people with healthcare benefits and sounds great to the wealthy, who can then exploit lack of government regulations to increase profits, not healthcare.
The Other side of the Argument
Experts argue that excluding Obamacare would cause millions of Americans losing access to affordable healthcare, especially those with pre-existing conditions. Let us think about this for a moment. I believe that government involvement is necessary to ensure that everyone has access to essential healthcare services, and that empowering individuals to make healthcare decisions may lead to inequality in access and quality of care.
Additionally, I strongly think that without government regulations, insurance companies could discriminate against certain individuals or charge exorbitant premiums, making healthcare unaffordable for many. I believe this because it happened before the Affordable Care Act.
I am worried about gaps in coverage, rising healthcare expenses, and how it may affect the vulnerable in marginalized communities dependent on the existing system.
4. Expansion of Oil and Gas Drilling
Furthermore, President Trump’s administration is looking to expand oil and gas drilling in the United States as part of efforts towards achieving energy independence and bolstering the economy. This expansion involves opening up areas off limits for exploration and production.
Advocates claim that boosting drilling can generate employment opportunities reduce dependence on foreign oil and stimulates economic development.
However, opponents argue that increasing drilling may have detrimental effects on the environment, leading to pollution and the depletion of natural resources. Critics contend it is more prudent to invest in renewable energy sources rather than prioritize drilling, as this approach not only generates employment opportunities but also offers long-term sustainability advantages. Additionally, critics argue that the economic benefits of drilling are often short-lived, as oil prices are subject to fluctuations in the global market. Therefore, they believe that a more balanced approach, considering both economic and environmental factors, is necessary for long-term prosperity. It should not be profit or environment. Should it?
Again, it sounds good but when Exxon and Chevron rebounded from Covid-era supply demand and made record profits; they did not pass on any savings to consumers who turned around and then blamed President Biden for inflation rather than protesting the Oil and Gas companies who were big Republican donors.
Critics have raised worries about the impact on the environment such as harm to ecosystems, increased carbon emissions and the risk of oil spills. All I know, wildfires, tornadoes, and hurricanes have all increased, and individuals still deny climate change and 2020 election results.
5. Rollback of Environmental Regulations
Regarding Project 2025, President Trump intends to repeal environmental regulations inserted into place by past administrations. This involves reviewing rules related to air and water pollution well as those addressing climate change.
Advocates argue that easing regulations could ease the load on businesses spur economic growth and offer more decision-making flexibility.
However, many experts and environmentalists argue that repealing these regulations can have detrimental effects on the environment and public health. These regulations aim to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Rolling them back could lead to increased pollution levels, exacerbating respiratory diseases, and further contributing to global warming. Furthermore, by disregarding these regulations, the United States may face international criticism and damage its reputation as a leader in environmental protection. Trump is an isolationist and does not hold any regard for the country’s role on a global stage.
Therefore, contemplating the potential consequences before completely repealing these environmental regulations is important.
6. Appointment of Conservative Judges
President Trump prioritizes appointing judges to federal courts, including the Supreme Court. This could have a lasting impact on the judiciary’s decisions for years to come concerning issues like civil rights, reproductive rights, and constitutional interpretation.
Supporters believe conservative judges can uphold the intent of the Constitution and safeguard individual freedoms. On the other hand, many others to include myself worry about setbacks in areas, like LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights and healthcare access. Social justice and law experts argue conservative judges may interpret the Constitution in a narrow and outdated manner, potentially limiting progress and overlooking evolving societal norms and progress.
I contend that this approach could hinder the protection of individual freedoms and cannot address pressing issues faced by contemporary society like the right to free speech, civil rights, the right to protest, women’s reproductive rights, the right to vote, free and fair elections, the right to love, and equal justice under the law.
Trump has an array of conservative judges that have and will continue to do his bidding. Judge Cannon recently dismissed the classified documents case against Trump. Keep in mind, authorities dismiss and investigate various individuals caught doing the same thing, revoking their security clearance. So, why is there special treatment? US Supreme Court recently gave him the “007 James Bond card”, a license to kill your opponents and get away with it.
Project 2025 is not a game.
7. Withdrawal from International Agreements
The Trump administration has a history of pulling out from agreements like the Paris Agreement on climate change and the Iran nuclear deal citing a focus on national interests and sovereignty.
Advocates argue that exiting agreements allows the U.S. To negotiate better terms and safeguard its interests. However, authorities argue that withdrawing from agreements can lead to strained diplomatic relations and a loss of credibility on the global stage. Additionally, renegotiating terms may not always result in better outcomes for the U.S., as other countries may be less willing to make concessions or may impose stricter terms in response to the U.S. withdrawal. Furthermore, leaving agreements can disrupt established trade networks and hinder economic growth, potentially harming our security, American businesses, and consumers in the long run.
There are valid concerns about the repercussions on global cooperation, diplomatic ties and addressing shared global challenges collectively.
8. Crackdown on Immigration
Another element of Project 2025 involves tightening immigration policies, particularly targeting undocumented immigrants. This includes enforcement measures, increased deportations and potential revisions to legal immigration regulations.
Supporters contend that stringent immigration rules like mass deportation and encampments can safeguard jobs for citizens, bolster national security and uphold the rule of law.
However, immigration experts argue that such stringent immigration rules can have negative consequences. They argue that mass deportation can lead to the separation of families and the violation of human rights. Encampments, on the other hand, can create overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, further exacerbating the issues faced by immigrants. Additionally, these measures may not safeguard jobs for citizens, as immigrants often contribute to the economy by filling labor gaps in various industries. Trump recently said he intends to protect “black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs.” Of course, social media went viral in response to his assertion there is a category “black jobs.”
Critics also argue that focusing solely on immigration enforcement neglects the need for comprehensive immigration reform, which could address the root causes of migration and provide a more sustainable solution.
I fear for potential violations of human rights, the separation of families, and the effects on industries that heavily rely on immigrant labor.
9. Privatization of Social Security
President Trump’s strategy explores potentially privatizing Social Security—a government program providing retirement benefits to individuals. The proposal aims to empower individuals with say over their retirement savings and reduce government obligations.
Supporters of privatization argue that it can boost investment returns and offer individuals control over their retirement savings.
However, critics of privatization argue that it can also lead to increased risk and volatility in the market, jeopardizing individuals’ retirement savings. They claim that relying on the private sector for retirement funds can be risky, as market fluctuations and economic downturns can significantly impact investment returns.
Furthermore, privatization may disproportionately benefit wealthier individuals who have the means to navigate the complex world of investing, leaving those with lower incomes at a disadvantage. Additionally, opponents argue that privatization could lead to a lack of oversight and regulation, exposing individuals to fraudulent schemes or mismanagement of funds.
10. Increased Spending
Moving on to the topic of increased spending, President Trump aims to bolster the country’s defense capabilities by investing in new technologies, equipment, and personnel. Advocates believe that this hike in spending is crucial for maintaining a robust national defense and safeguarding American interests globally. But, if he has a foreign isolationist policy then it seems nonsensical to pour money into a well no one even drinks from anymore.
However, opponents are worried about its implications on budget areas like education and healthcare and the risk of sparking an arms race. I believe his increased spending has a common thread that is weaved throughout his Project 2025 agenda and that is power and wealth to the top 1% while the rest of the nation grapples over crumbs left over from their fleecing of America.
You see, if you fighting your neighbor over crumbs you believe belong to you then what you are not doing is watching what Trump administration is doing to bankrupt the government and take care of themselves. There is little room in the Billionaire Uber Wealthy lounge - VIPs only. They are not extending an invitation to you, citizen.
Conclusion
In summary, President Trump’s ambitious Project 2025 agenda introduces ten issues that could significantly influence the future of the United States. Each issue comes with its facist pros and democracy cons, emphasizing the importance of citizens staying informed and engaging in meaningful discussions to secure positive outcomes for the nation.
These ten issues include economic growth, tax reform, immigration policy, healthcare reform, infrastructure investment, national security, trade agreements, energy independence, educational reform, and criminal justice reform. President Trump aims to stimulate economic growth through deregulation and tax cuts, while also implementing stricter immigration policies to protect American jobs. He plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act to ensure affordable and accessible healthcare for all citizens.
Additionally, he aims to invest in infrastructure projects to improve the country’s transportation systems. National security is a top priority, with plans to strengthen border security and combat terrorism. His priority is to renegotiate trade agreements to prioritize American interests and promote fair trade practices. To achieve energy independence, we will focus on promoting domestic production and decreasing our dependence on foreign sources. Educational reform aims to improve school choice options and enhance vocational training. Last, criminal justice reform seeks to address issues such as mass incarceration and promote rehabilitation programs.
However, critics argue that President Trump’s approach to stimulating economic growth through deregulation and tax cuts primarily benefits the wealthy and corporations, rather than the average American. They argue these policies can lead to income inequality and a lack of social safety nets. Additionally, stricter immigration policies may negatively impact industries that rely on immigrant labor, such as agriculture and hospitality. Critics also complain about the potential consequences of repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, as it could leave millions of Americans without access to affordable healthcare. Furthermore, some argue that investing in infrastructure projects may not be enough to address the country’s transportation needs, and that more comprehensive solutions are required. Furthermore, critics question the effectiveness of border security measures in combating terrorism and propose the need for a more nuanced approach. Last, opponents argue that renegotiating trade agreements could have negative consequences for American businesses and consumers, leading to higher prices and reduced international cooperation.
